Hogsthorpe sits between the Lincolnshire coast and the hills, which means a beach morning and a countryside afternoon are the same day out.
Towards the sea
The coast towns
Three seaside places sit within a short drive, each with a different character.
Chapel St Leonards
The closest, at roughly three miles. A quieter sand beach and a village green a short walk from it.
Ingoldmells
About five miles. Fairground rides, markets and the busier end of the coast if the group wants noise.
Skegness
Around eight miles. The full seaside town, with the pier, the beach and somewhere to eat when nobody wants to cook.
Inland
The Lincolnshire Wolds
An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a range of low hills that give long views back across the farmland. It is the other direction from the coast, and the one most visitors miss.
On the doorstep
Hogsthorpe village
A village of around a thousand people, surrounded by farmland, with a post office, a village hall and a few shops. It has been a farming community since the Domesday Book recorded it in 1086.
