In the water
Coarse fish, and four that have never been caught
The lake is well stocked with coarse fish and fishes all year round, so there is no closed season to work around.
- Carp, including fish of twenty pounds and over
- Crucian carp

- Eels
- Roach
There are smaller coarse fish throughout the lake besides those. Four carp of around twenty pounds went in some years ago and, as far as we know, none of them has been landed since. We know they are in there because we put them there.

How it works
Two pegs on the bank in front of your lodge

The lake sits at the centre of the site, so the walk from your door to your peg is measured in steps rather than miles.
Before you cast
Licences and rules
A rod licence from the Environment Agency may be required, and it is your responsibility to hold one where it applies. We will confirm what you need before you arrive.
Fishing rules and peg arrangements are confirmed at the time of booking. Fishing is from the pegs in front of the lodges, not from the lodge decking. We ask that the rules are followed, for the sake of the fish and of everyone else on the bank.
On the bank
The lake keeps its own company
A kestrel pair nests on the edge of the site, the mallards hold the jetties, and red admirals work the hedgerow through high summer. Sit still long enough and the lake carries on around you.
